Khoo Kay Hwee
Chief Risk Officer, AIA Singapore

Khoo Kay Hwee is the Chief Risk Officer of AIA Singapore, overseeing both the risk and compliance functions. He is responsible for strengthening and embedding the enterprise risk management framework, as well as implementation of the compliance framework and programs for the company.

Kay Hwee joined AIA Singapore in August 2015. He has more than 25 years of experience in the life insurance industry, in both the private and public sectors.

Prior to joining AIA Singapore, he was a Director in the Insurance Department at the Monetary Authority of Singapore and headed the team supervising the life and composite insurers. As part of his responsibilities, he assessed the financial soundness, risk management and controls of the insurers. He was also actively involved in investments and enterprise risk management issues for insurers, as well as market conduct issues.

Kay Hwee holds a Bachelor of Business (Hons) degree with the Nanyang Technological University and is a Fellow of both the Singapore Actuarial Society and Institute of Actuaries.

Professor W. Jean Kwon

Professor Kwon holds the Edwin A.G. Manton Endowed Chair Professorship in International Insurance and Risk Management at St. John’s University’s School of Risk Management (SRM) in Manhattan, New York. Concurrently, he represents SRM’s Center for the Study of Insurance Regulation, contributes to the International Insurance Society as Research Director and Research Network Leader, is Editor-in-Chief of the Asia-Pacific Journal of Risk and Insurance and provides professional services to, among others, the Financial Accreditation Agency, Singapore College of Insurance and Networks Financial Institute. He has authored several books, including a Kulp-Wright Award winning Risk Management and Insurance: Perspectives in a Global Economy which has been used in 40 institutions in about 20 countries. His new book, Reinsurance Technical Accounts, is expected this year. He actively publishes academic and policy-related papers, speaks at various conferences for private and public sector audiences and visits overseas universities and institutions. He specializes in insurance regulation, country and macro market analysis, insurer financial and operational analysis as well as emerging risk issues in the global insurance environment.
