CyRiM is a three-year Public-Private Partnership sponsored by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), the Cyber Security Agency (CSA) of Singapore, as well as leading global insurance and information security companies. The project aims to develop data and analytical tools that will enable business solutions to help corporations implement efficient and effective cybersecurity measures. A key outcome of the project will be the establishment and ongoing support of an independent database of data breach incidents, vulnerability and economic loss data, with a focus on the Asia-Pacific region.  The project has a large research component requiring a strong link with academia that is achieved at an international level through collaborations with universities world-​wide.​

Responsibility

  • Responsible for designing an assessment framework for the attack surface for an organization; Lead the calibration of assessment framework using sector-specific data. 
  • Coordinate work with cyber risk modelers, banking CISOs and insurance underwriters 
  • This position reports to the Director of IRFRC

Requirement

  • Diploma/Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent
  • Qualification in security technologies, practice, methodologies and standards
  • At least 5 years of relevant working experience
  • Strong working knowledge of malware in its varying forms, common delivery mechanisms, and common mitigation steps. 
  • Experience working with technology from Key Security vendors such as Splunk, Syslog Cisco, Palo Alto, RSA, HP, Imperva, Fortinet, Trend Micro, FireEye, Checkpoint, Symantec and Intel Security
  • Understanding the Security Industry and evolution of technologies, threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Good working knowledge of security risk management, security governance framework and compliance, technical vulnerability management, application security technologies (System hardening, IDS/ IPS, firewall, privileged identity and access management), security incident response and assessment.

NTU’s Insurance Risk and Finance Research Centre (IFRRC) is looking for a Programme Manager to lead the Cyber Data and Analytics workstream of the Cyber Risk Management (CyRiM) Project. 

The successful candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment with cyber risk modelers, cyber insurance underwriters and information security experts. He/she will be engaged in leading the design and deployment of the cyber incidence and vulnerability databases. The candidate will report to the Director of IRFRC, and work with other senior members of the CyRiM team. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic individual with technical knowledge in cybersecurity, project management, consultants’ oversight, and problem solving capabilities. A key determinant of this function is hands-on leadership in a multi-stakeholder environment and delivery of the databases on budget and on schedule. 

Responsibility

  • As a member of the core project team, you will be expected to bring content expertise and management skills to assist in the development of a cybersecurity database on a day-to-day basis (including through discussions and regular scheduled project coordination meetings).
  • You will be expected to supervise a team of risk analysts in data gathering efforts. 
  • You will be responsible for the cyber loss data acquisition, integration and analytics. 
  • You will be expected to liaise with industry representatives from insurance, broker, corporate (buyers) and IT security companies at an expert and management level.

Requirements

  • Minimum five years’ work experience in insurance, consulting or InfoSec companies.​
  • Management skills, and the ability to effectively lead, organize and motivate a team of six to 12 analysts.
  • Experience in working with building and maintaining a large database. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (knowledge of R a plus).

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree (PhD preferred) in mathematics, statistics, computer engineering, management information systems, or related field.
  • Languages: English – fluently spoken and professional level writing.

Role: Core Project Member & Work-Stream Lead
Start date: 1st January 2016, or earliest convenience thereafter
Duration: 3 year contract
Location: Singapore

Role

  • ​As a member of the core project team you will be expected bring content expertise and management skills to assist in the steering of the project on a day to day basis through discussions and regular scheduled project coordination meetings.
  • You will be expected to lead one or more project work streams on topics such as cyber risk definitions, risk driver identification and mapping, market surveys, depending on your background and inclination.
  • You will be expected to report on the project status and latest results to Project Oversight Board and will be able to converse on the implications of the findings and to discuss high level project steering.
  • You are able to manage project issues and monitor risks efficiently, escalating if required.
  • You will be expected to liaise with industry representatives from insurance, broker, corporate (buyers) and IT security companies at an expert and management level.
  • You will be able to effectively and efficiently organize and lead industry working groups and be ready and willing to prepare and facilitate topic specific workshops with results oriented outcome.
  • You will be able to competently present results and findings to key stakeholders and at conferences or seminars on cyber risk.

Requirements

  • ​​Minimum 10 years’ experience in insurance and / or insurance risk management
  • Knowledge of cyber risk insurance or experience in related field
  • Management skills: able to effectively lead, organize and motivate a small team​
  • A team player who is willing to get their hands dirty
  • Communication skills: able to converse fluently on complex topics at expert and management levels
  • Presentation skills: keen and able present to varied audiences
  • Willing to travel
  • Experience working with large datasets with experience in data analysis and/or modelling
  • IT experience and use of databases and reporting. Proficient in MS Office.
  • Capable to write professional grade industry reports for publication

Qualifications

  • Ideally holds an actuarial qualification, or has extensive experience in quantitative insurance risk analysis with a PhD in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, econometrics or similar field
  • Languages: English – fluently spoken and professional level writing, Other languages, including Chinese, would be a bonus
